This past week I had become attached to a poem that we read. I read and found a deeper meaning for the poem itself. Matt Rasmussen's poem "Elegy in X parts" is a great piece of work about a friend committing suicide. The language and structure of the poem creates an emotional connection. As a reader of poetry when authors use line breaks it creates suspense in my mind. I read it with passion and emotion. Learning how to break down poetry and figure out deeper meanings to each piece really interests me because, I can turn any poem into something i relate to if i try hard enough. This week my participation was limited because of absences however, when I was there i loved hearing each poem and creating a story. I also was able to create a story from a painting. A simple painting with no story can be turned into anything you wish it to be. My group chose to break down "Christina's world" by Andrew Wyeth. This painting has dull colors and distance between the two subjects. The story I came up with is, that this young girl does not have a great relationship with her family when she longs to. She longs to be loved by her family, however when her father passes away she becomes more distant. She is reaching toward the house while she stays frozen in her pain and fears. She must have a fear of not being loved because of the way she is. She really longs to be a part of the family however she doesn't try hard enough to make her way toward them. To wrap up the week I was gone. So this next week I will be looking deeper and gaining greater understandings of pieces of writing. I hope to continue to learn great things that will help me in the future. docs.google.com/document/d/1_zFlMXrMtHECk0rXl4d2zEV63t2YedMevoGCejr8O9o/edit
